Paradise on Earth
All NYRP community gardens hold a minimum of 20 open hours per week. Please check the bulletin board at the garden for times and details.
Founded in 1981 as part of a Police Athletic League program, Paradise on Earth has served a dedicated group of gardeners who raise chickens and grow herbs and vegetables, including tomatoes, peppers, squash, beans and basil. Picnics, barbecues and block parties are frequently held in this expansive garden, which features fruit trees, including apple, pear and cherry. The garden encompasses three lots across the street from a public elementary school with nearly 1,000 children.
