Who We Are

NEW YORK RESTORATION PROJECT (NYRP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming open space in under-resourced communities to create a greener, more sustainable New York City. In partnership with the City of New York, NYRP is also leading MillionTreesNYC – an initiative to plant and care for one million new trees throughout New York City’s five boroughs by 2015.

Greening NYC

Unlike traditional conservancies that care for a specific place, NYRP is the only New York City conservancy that works citywide, bringing private resources to spaces that lack adequate municipal support. We are dedicated to the belief that all New Yorkers deserve access to beautiful, high-quality open space.

Don't let the weather fool you, spring is around the corner. In anticipation, we're sharing some stories from our gardeners last spring. Nayda Maymi began gardening at the Essex Street Community Garden four years ago. As she strolled from one garden bed to another, inspecting the growing bok choy and tomatoes, she told us how she became involved with the garden.
