Our Community Gardens

We own and support more than 50 community gardens across New York City.

As part of NYRP’s land trust, local volunteers care for each garden in our citywide network with support from dedicated NYRP staff.

These vibrant, diverse neighborhood spaces provide access to nature, fresh food, cultural connection, and community gathering across New York City. Open to all, NYRP community gardens welcome visitors from April 1 through the end of October and are open at least 20 hours each week during the season.

E-mail us at [email protected] with the name of the garden you would like to reach.

How do I become a garden member?

Garden members open our gardens for public use and work with NYRP staff to help maintain and care for the space. At each garden, garden members belong to a garden group, which creates and governs garden membership. Check out our Join a Garden page to learn more.

Can I volunteer?

Can I host an event in a garden?

You may request to host a public event by contacting our team at [email protected]. Garden groups must approve all events, which must be free and open to the public.

How do community gardens become part of the network?

NYRP is not currently adding new gardens to our network. Our existing gardens became part of NYRP’s land trust in 1999, when NYRP partnered with the Trust for Public Land to help save these spaces from development. Learn more about NYRP’s history here.
