Bushwick Community Garden Walking Tour with NYRP and Chenae Bullock
Poster House and New York Restoration Project (NYRP) will host a guided walking tour through Bushwick’s Cooper, Decatur, and Aberdeen community gardens, presented in connection with the exhibition Designed to Be Red: Native American & Indigenous Poster Works. DK Kinard, NYRP’s Director of Community Engagement, will co-lead the tour with Chenae Bullock, founder of Moskehtu Consulting, who will bring historical and cultural context to each stop. Together, they will trace the history of the land itself — what it once was and what it has become — point out indigenous plants growing in the gardens and how they have traditionally been used, and speak to the continuing presence of indigenous peoples in New York City today.
