Pepper Smoking 101: Part 2

This event is hosted in partnership with Deep Routes an East NY Farms!

Join farmers Maya (Deep Routes) and Alexx (East NY Farms), alongside the NYRP Urban Ag team, for a 2-day intensive on chili pepper cultivation, smoking, and storage preparation. During our time together we’ll connect with a variety of chili peppers, walk through setting up a smoker and how to turn a grill into a smoker, go over smoking materials, and discuss tips for success with storing your precious peppers.

During Part 2, we’ll reconvene back at the farm — following the previous evening’s pepper harvest — to get into the pepper smoking process from start to finish with the harvested peppers. Participants will get a detailed walkthrough of how to smoke peppers, learn about safe processing and storage of their smoked chilis, and get to make their own chili flakes to take home.

NOTE: Registration is required for this two-part workshop series. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO PARTICIPANTS WHO CAN COMMIT TO ATTENDING BOTH WORKSHOP SESSIONS (FRI, SEPT-18 & SAT, SEPT-19). You will receive an email confirming your spot soon after completing the form. After reaching the workshop capacity (25), all interested individuals will be added to a waitlist.
