Tree Giveaway: Green-Wood Cemetery

This event is in partnership with Green-Wood Cemetery.

UPDATE: ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS FULL FOR THIS EVENT! Walk-up recipients are welcome to pick up a tree during the second hour of the giveaway, from 2 PM onwards. All remaining trees are first-come, first-served until all trees are distributed. We always have trees remaining for the second hour for anyone who missed the chance to register in advance. If you plan to come out as a walk-up, we recommend arriving close to the start of the event to sign up for the waitlist.

Native tree species to be distributed at this location include:

• Beach Plum
• Highbush Blueberry
• Pagoda Dogwood
• American Persimmon
• Sweetbay Magnolia
• Virginia Sweetspire

Please note that tree sizes vary. Be prepared to transport up to a two-gallon pot size.

For Community Gardens on NYC Parks Property: Garden groups must get prior written permission from GreenThumb to plant new trees, perform major pruning such as limb removals, or remove existing trees, even if damaged, diseased, or dead. NYC Parks has very strict laws governing tree removal on NYC Parks property. Fines can be significant for improper removals.
