NYRP's Hulaween in The Garden of Earthly Delights
Livin' on a Prayer Hulaween Style!
If you’ve recently been to a party that included Jon Bon Jovi & Friends, Bette Midler, Eric Schmidt, David Evans Shaw, Dita Von Teese, Judy Gold, Michael Kors, and DJ RUNNA, then you can close this web page.
Otherwise, have we got a treat for you!
This Hulaween, Jon Bon Jovi & Friends (yes, the iconic megastar who was just nominated for 2018’s Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame) will be performing an intimate acoustic set amidst the magnificent Gothic architecture of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine on October 30 to benefit NYRP!
Not only that, The Divine Miss M will perform her famous parody from Hulaween’s past. The event will honor Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman of Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc., and David Evans Shaw, Managing Partner of BlackPoint Group, for their outstanding environmental stewardship. Dita Von Teese “The Queen of Burlesque” will dazzle the audience with enchanting tricks and treats. Comedienne Judy Gold, who the Hollywood Reporter called “riotously funny,” will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies to skewer the crowd with laughter, while the world-renowned designer and Hulaween costume judge Michael Kors casts his judgment down upon attendees. Meanwhile, celebrity DJ and tastemaker DJ RUNNA will be cranking out the tunes to let your wildest demons roam free on the dance floor.
Danny Meyer’s renowned Union Square Hospitality Group (of Gramercy Tavern fame) has concocted a feast… should you dare to take a bite, with flavors ranging from fruit found in the Garden of Eden, to the rib of Adam, and a tart with citrus flames summoned from the pits of hell.
The one and only Bette Midler will be presenting Eric with NYRP’s Wind Beneath My Wings Leadership Award and David will receive our Green God Award. As the Executive Chairman of Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc., Eric Schmidt has been at the forefront of technology’s triumphs and is a lead funder in today’s sustainable movement. His philanthropic efforts through The Schmidt Family Foundation focus on climate change, including support of ocean and marine life studies at sea. In addition to his amazing philanthropic impact on today’s environment, Eric is also known for his tireless work to bring technology to the world’s greatest problems, with education at the center of his philosophy – specifically funding cutting-edge research and technology in the natural sciences and engineering.
David Evans Shaw has been a leader of important efforts to protect and preserve both the land and sea globally, including his role as trustee of the National Parks Foundation. David is a much needed leader at this critical moment in history in pivotal roles, including chair of the Sargasso Sea Alliance, Treasurer of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and co-chair of the Aspen Institute High Seas Initiative.
