This event is organized by Arantxa Araujo.
From the event organizers:
How does fully-immersing ourselves into an audiovisual experience expand our consciousness?
LUX is a live performance with a multimedia and live music component, an invitation to show up for an experimental meditative practice across time and space by Arantxa Araujo in collaboration with Nicolás Dumit Estévez Raful Espejo Ovalles, Mariana Uribe, Gabriel Chakarji, Manuel Molina, Wei Chao, Ben Fisher and Pamela Hersh.=
Set in nature, LUX plans to use our surroundings to project videos of nature merged with atom-like objects that at times may represent the universe and at others our cells. These videos incorporate Araujo’s performance for the camera and merge with a real life performance.=
LUX merges meditative practices, scientific research, and experiential technologies in an aesthetic expression to exercise awareness.
Individuals are invited to observe and listen, both internally and externally and attempt to view and experience without judgment or expectation. Simply notice the video, your emotions, thoughts, and breath as the garden becomes alive. Just like one normally does, sitting in a park or a garden, LUX(e) is creating an opportunity to sit and observe.
Leaving us with one question: How does fully-immersing ourselves into an audiovisual experience expand our consciousness?
LUX is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council, the New York City Artist Corps and The New York Restoration Project.
