NYRP is working with partners in East Harlem, Manhattan and Mott Haven, Bronx to promote public green spaces in both neighborhoods, and all the fantastic activities taking place in them. This includes events, walking trails, and a new WAYFINDING campaign, You + Park! (Wayfinding is a term used to describe a campaign that helps people find their way in public places.) Keep an eye out for signs around both neighborhoods and have a look below for lots of great information about free events and resources.

St. Mary’s Park, Mott Haven

  • Second Saturdays at St. Mary’s every second Saturday from May-October 2017 11am-3pm
    Join local partners like BronxWorks, NYRP, Building Healthy Communities, Partnership for Parks, NYC Parks, New York Road Runners, and Friends of St. Mary’s Park for free fitness sessions, live music, cooking demos and more! Keep up to date with @HLMottHaven on Twitter and Instagram!
  • Open Runs at St. Mary’s, 9am every Saturday
    Join New York Road Runners every Saturday at 9am for a free and totally open public run. More info here:

Randall’s Island Park

A gem on the Harlem and East Rivers, Randall’s Island features so many great activities throughout the year that there truly is something for everyone! Below you’ll find a list of free highlight activities but take a look at the Randall’s Island Park Alliance website for more information! []

  • Movie nights
    RIPA will be running eight free evening film screenings spanning classic favorites and blockbusters. All screenings begin at sunset, see website for more information.
  • Walking tours every Sunday, 2pm through November 12
  • Urban farm exploration days - Saturdays and Sundays through October 14.
  • Free fitness classes Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings
  • Get Hooked - September 23, 11am-2pm
    At Get Hooked, children have the opportunity to learn about the wildlife living in the waters surrounding Randall’s Island. Activities include: fishing (catch and release), games, arts and crafts and more. Come out to the Park to learn, explore and fish!
  • Harvest Festival - October 15, 12-4pm
    Each fall RIPA’s annual Harvest Festival celebrates the bounty of the earth and the completion of another fruitful season at the Urban Farm. Enjoy live music, face painting, self-guided tours of the Urban Farm and more fun fall activities!

East River Esplanade

Join the Friends of the East River Esplanade (60-120 Streets) for public art, weekend festivals, music and more! More info:
