Join a Garden

Become one of a growing number of cultivators, caretakers, and champions of some of New York City’s most precious green plots by joining a New York Restoration Project community garden.

NYRP community gardeners are neighbors from all walks of life. They are the driving force behind our organization’s efforts to sustain and promote the many environmental, social and economic benefits that our 52 gardens bring to communities throughout the five boroughs.

From growing your own vegetables and supporting garden maintenance to sharing your skills in a workshop, and composting, there are many ways you can get involved in our gardens. Gardeners open our gardens for public use, as well as work with NYRP staff to help maintain and care for the spaces.

NYRP community gardeners meet regularly during the garden season, April through October. Like our spaces, each group has a diverse governance structure, which can include membership expectations, open hours, and growing preferences.

Please note: Our gardens are currently closed for the winter. The next opportunity to get involved will be in the spring of 2024. Please fill out the application below and a member of our Engagement team will follow up with you as the season approaches.
