Honorees

Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman, Alphabet Inc.

The one and only Bette Midler will be presenting Eric with NYRP’s Wind Beneath My Wings Leadership Award and David will receive our Green God Award. As the Executive Chairman of Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc., Eric Schmidt has been at the forefront of technology’s triumphs and is a lead funder in today’s sustainable movement. His philanthropic efforts through The Schmidt Family Foundation focus on climate change, including support of ocean and marine life studies at sea. In addition to his amazing philanthropic impact on today’s environment, Eric is also known for his tireless work to bring technology to the world’s greatest problems, with education at the center of his philosophy – specifically funding cutting-edge research and technology in the natural sciences and engineering.

David E. Shaw, Managing Partner, Black Point Group

David Evans Shaw has been a leader of important efforts to protect and preserve both the land and sea globally, including his role as trustee of the National Parks Foundation. David is a much needed leader at this critical moment in history in pivotal roles, including chair of the Sargasso Sea Alliance, Treasurer of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and co-chair of the Aspen Institute High Seas Initiative.

Entertainment

Jon Bon Jovi
Dita Von Teese and Judy Gold

This Hulaween, the iconic megastar who was just nominated for 2018’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Jon Bon Jovi & Friends will be performing an intimate acoustic set amidst the magnificent Gothic architecture of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The venue will be transformed for the evening and filled with ghoulish entertainment, from Dita Von Teese, who Vanity Fair called a “Burlesque Superheroine,” to the critically acclaimed comedian and actress Judy Gold, our Mistress of Ceremonies. Bette will pull out her classic parody number from Hulaween’s past while celebrity DJ and tastemaker DJ Runna charms the audience onto the dancefloor. A surprise musical guest will emerge from the shadows, as the world-renowned designer Michael Kors judges costumes from on high. After dinner, the dance party with moves both good and evil will commence as we prepare for All Hallows’ Eve in style!

The trick is to prepare for a night full of treats. Enter (if you dare) NYRP’s Garden of Earthly Delights!
