DESCRIPTION:Two-Part Sorghum Harvest &amp\; Syrup Workshop \nThis event is hosted in partnership with Deep Routes.  \nJoin Maya Marie and the NYRP Urban Ag team to learn about the Afro-Indigenous origins of sorghum\, cultivation techniques\, and more. This session is part 2 of 3 in The Sweetness of Sorghum\, a hands-on Deep Routes workshop series honoring the foodways that connect plants\, peoples\, and lands across Afro-Indigenous diasporas. In this session\, participants will learn how to assess the sorghum’s readiness for harvest and gain hands-on practice of harvesting and processing the canes/stalks for seed\, grain\, juice\, and syrup. On Sunday (October-11)\, in part 3\, participants will have the opportunity to transform the sorghum juice into syrup.&nbsp\; \nTHIS WORKSHOP IS FULL.
