Location: The position is based out of our Midtown office. Office staff are expected to work at least 2 days per week from the office, and the remaining 3 days are remote.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance & Accounting (DOF) manages the organization’s finance and accounting functions. This individual provides direct supervision to the outsourced financial accounting team and will work collaboratively across departments at NYRP. The DOF will be a key strategic partner and advisor to the senior staff, Trustees and department heads on all financial and business matters, providing leadership to guide and shape the organization’s financial strategy to support its fiscal health.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee Accounts Payable functions
- Ensure all bills are approved and paid in a timely manner
- Support outsourced accounting team as appropriate
- Oversee Accounts Receivable functions
- Ensure all invoices are paid in a timely manner
- Manage organizational cash position and facilitate drawdowns/transfers
- Analyze monthly financial statements and provide feedback to the accounting team
- Present financial statements to senior staff, Trustee leadership and Finance Committee monthly
- Update and manage the cash flow forecast, to be reviewed with the leadership team monthly
- Create and manage the annual organizational budget, including all departmental and/or programmatic budgets
- Conduct monthly meetings with all department heads to review budget versus actuals reports
- In collaboration with the Advancement (fundraising/development) team, create budgets for grants
- Provide interim and final fiscal reports for funders on an as-needed basis
- Manage organizational insurance renewals and requests
- Manage critical accounting and finance relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Oversee all accounting and finance staff and vendors
- Collaborate with all department heads to ensure fiscal information is flowing in a timely and useful manner
- Manage relationships with all banks and financial institutions
- Serve as liaison to the Finance Committee
- Maintain updated and documented fiscal policies and procedures
- In collaboration with the outsourced accountant, oversee the annual audit process
- Review the fiscal software needs of the organization annually and make recommendations to the leadership team as appropriate
- Update the fiscal component of the NYRP strategic plan as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA or MBA are a plus
- Minimum of five years demonstrated management experience within an accounting or finance department
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting is required
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
