On Sunday, April 22, volunteers from the New York City Football Club partnered with NYRP at Jerome Slope, a profoundly neglected park in the Bronx, and removed 1,100 pounds of garbage, cleared 34 square feet of weeds and invasive plant species, and mulched street trees.
The event, which took place as part of NYRP’s ‘Twigs and Swigs’ program, was hosted in partnership with The Bronx Brewery, and concluded with a happy hour.
Twigs and Swigs is a neighborhood greening event with a social twist. Volunteers help NYRP transform gardens, parks, or one of the many green spaces NYRP stewards throughout the city. Afterwards, the whole group goes out for drinks together.
