Reginald Germain, 25, from South Ozone Park, Queens became the coordinator at Curtis “50 Cent” Community Garden in the borough after taking an avid interest in gardening, and wanting to learn more about growing his own food. “Around the time I started college, I just got a lot more interested in nutrition and outlets available to the community and that type of stuff,” he said while watering a small plot filled with mint, corn, and cucumbers.
That’s when he discovered NYRP.
Looking up different resources in the community, “I found out about the garden,” he said. “So I stopped by one day and I got to know the members and I’ve been a member here ever since.”
