“It’s like our own little end-of-the-school-year party!” exclaimed Sean, 10, to a fellow P.S. 5 classmate while playing soccer with his friend on June 26 at Sherman Creek in Upper Manhattan. NYRP celebrated the beginning of summer by hosting a party and Pop-Up Park on the site, which included ice cream, games, and music from the group Underground Horns.
The music performance was followed by Handsome Harry’s Magic Show, where Harry not only inspired many laughs, but also provided thrills juggling 2-foot machetes. Children “oohed” and “aahed” during the show. Meanwhile, children played games, like Cornhole, Giant Jenga, and Connect Four. Even P.S. 5’s principal, Mr. Arnest, made the affair!
The park will be open every day this summer until 8PM, so make sure you give it a visit! It is located behind P.S. 5, next to the Riley-Levin Children’s Garden.
