“I’m replacing a tree that was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy,” explained Andy, who lives across the street from the Brooklyn Public Library in Windsor Terrace where NYRP held a tree giveaway event earlier this year. “It’s been a little empty since then and NYRP provided a great opportunity to replace that tree,” he said.
Andy was on his way to the store to buy a new tree when he saw NYRP staff members across the street giving out trees to community members. NYRP regularly plants trees with community and corporate volunteers throughout New York City, and provides free trees to New Yorkers to plant on their property or in community gardens.
Tree giveaway season is in the spring and fall every year.
