NYRP Partners with TD Bank to Plant Trees throughout NYC’s Five Boroughs
October 1, 2014 – New York City, NY – New York Restoration Project (NYRP) staff and volunteers will be joined by employees from TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, across New York City to participate in TD Tree Days, a cooperative effort to plant new trees in local communities in need.
NYRP is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming open space in under-resourced communities to create a greener, more sustainable New York City. TD Bank’s partnership with NYRP is vital to achieving the goal of planting one million new trees through the MillionTreesNYC initiative.
As part of TD Forests, the bank’s environmental initiative to expand urban forestry in order to enhance community and economic development, TD Bank will partner with NYRP for TD Tree Days events in New York to plant trees in communities and neighborhoods in need. The event locations and native tree species have been selected in an effort to help mitigate the impact of future storm damage, rising sea-levels and more.
“TD Bank’s commitment to planting trees, particularly in New York City, is a testament to the Bank’s profound understanding of the intimate connection between the urban forest and quality of life," said Deborah Marton NYRP Executive Director. “Our lives are inherently better—we breathe better, we feel better, we're better citizens, we even earn more, when there are more trees around us. NYRP is proud to partner with TD Bank.”
More than 150 volunteers will plant 160 trees in the five boroughs of New York City. All of the tree plantings will help New York city's MillionTreesNYC campaign reach its goal of planting one million trees in New York City by 2015—two years ahead of schedule.
Upcoming TD Tree Day events include:
PS 52 John C. Thompson School (Staten Island, NY), October 2, 2014
Franz Sigel Park (Bronx, NY), October 7, 2014

“TD Bank and our employees are proud to partner with New York Restoration during TD Tree Days to create enriched and greener local environments,” said Alan Nossen, Market President of Retail for TD Bank. “As an environmental leader, TD Bank focuses on areas where we can make the most impact, and we are thrilled that so many volunteers will be providing support for local parks and open spaces where we live and work.”

Founded by Bette Midler in 1995, NYRP is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming open space in under-resourced communities to create a greener, more sustainable New York City.
