Betty Y. Chen, AIA
Betty Y. Chen is an architect and former New York City Planning Commissioner. She is the principal of BYC Projects which provides planning and management consulting services. As Vice President for Planning, Design and Preservation at the Trust for Governors Island, she oversaw the planning for the redevelopment of Governors Island including the West 8 park design. At the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation she was Vice-President of Planning where she was responsible for the development of the multi-billion dollar World Trade Center Master Plan and other large-scale planning projects in Manhattan.
Betty serves on the Board of Overseers Committee to Visit the Harvard Graduate School of Design, the Trinity School Facilities Committee, and the Board of the Asian University for Women Support Foundation. She holds degrees from Harvard and Yale and a Commercial Horticulture Certificate from the New York Botanical Garden. Betty serves on the Real Estate Committee.
