Host a Tree Giveaway

Giveaway Events

Under NYRP's guidance, partner organizations distribute between 100-200 trees to New Yorkers at a two-hour event. Two NYRP staff will be at each event to orient volunteers, demonstrate how to plant and care for trees, and answer any tree-related questions. Each tree comes with information on how to properly plant and care for trees, and NYRP will also provide materials for promotion of the event or program. NYRP coordinates the delivery of trees to the organization's site and cover all expenses relating to plant materials and delivery. Trees can be planted on residential lawns, commercial properties, community gardens, faith-based centers, or any other property that is appropriate for trees within the 5 boroughs. Please note that these trees may not be planted along streets because they do not meet NYC Parks/DOT's size specifications for those locations.

Partnership Opportunities

Hosting an NYRP tree giveaway is an excellent way to begin or continue greening a neighborhood. Any organization, for profit or non-profit, that has the capacity to give away at least 100 trees should apply. The most qualified organizations will have a desire to improve their neighborhood, and will dedicate time for outreach and recruiting volunteers for the event. Past partners have included schools, after-school programs, religious institutions, civic associations, businesses, and non-profits.
