This event is organized by the New York Public Library’s (NYPL) Aguilar Branch
From the event organizers:
Join the NYPL in the garden as they celebrate Pura Belpré, who was the first Puerto Rican librarian to work for The New York Public Library.
Since the NYC Council recently approved street co-naming legislation which included the Pura Belpré Way on East 109th Street and Lexington Avenue in East Harlem, the NYPL will be celebrating Belpré’s work by telling her stories and giving away some books!
