Donors and Sponsors

NYRP is proud to collaborate with a growing number of corporations, foundations and individual partners, whose generous and enthusiastic participation is critical to NYRP’s ability to implement and sustain new and existing projects aimed at achieving a greater, greener New York City.

Listed below are some of the many donors and sponsors with whom NYRP has shared and continues to share its vision, accomplishments – and a lot of fun – through major initiatives, community events, annual galas, volunteer days and much more from October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008.

Thank you for your support!

 Sustainer ($300,000 and above)

The Bette Midler Family Trust
Beginning with the formation of NYRP in 1995 and for more than 14 years, The Bette Midler Family Trust has supported the organization’s ongoing and expanding greening and environmental education efforts, as well as – most recently ® NYRP’s partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation in launching and sustaining the MillionTreesNYC initiative.

Target
Target has generously underwritten the restoration of three NYRP community gardens located in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, Upper Manhattan's East Harlem and, most recently, in the Highbridge section of the South Bronx – scheduled to open in the fall of 2009. Target is also a frequent sponsor of NYRP gala events and continues to provide the organization with in-kind merchandise used to support a variety of NYRP environmental education and community programs.

Toyota
Toyota is a lead sponsor of the MillionTreesNYC 10-year tree-planting initiative and – throughout their three-year commitment period – will support ongoing tree-planting and stewardship activities, youth and adult education programs, and public awareness campaigns. Toyota employees are taking a hands-on approach to supporting this enormous undertaking, participating in numerous tree-planting volunteer days and working to achieve the initiative’s one million tree goal, citywide. Toyota also generously funded the construction of the Toyota Children’s Learning Garden, located on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

The Home Depot Foundation
The Home Depot Foundation is the first lead sponsor of the MillionTreesNYC 10-year tree-planting initiative. Extending over a three year commitment period, The Home Depot Foundation is supporting tree-planting and stewardship activities, youth and adult education programs, and public awareness campaigns related to this enormous undertaking to plant one million trees citywide. The Home Depot Foundation has also provided NYRP with generous in-kind contributions of gardening tools and materials and, most recently, underwrote the restoration and re-opening of The Home Depot Community Garden located in East Harlem – the first certified Nature Explore Classroom in New York City.

BNP Paribas
In 2008 and 2009, BNP Paribas was the presenting sponsor of MillionTreesNYC Month.  Funding from BNP Paribas also supported a tree giveaway program benefiting New York City homeowners in 2008 and, in 2009, generously underwrote a tree-discount coupon program that helped New Yorkers purchase trees from neighborhood nurseries. In addition, BNP Paribas’ employees have been active in a number of tree-planting volunteer days and most recently joined NYRP staff in rebuilding raised planting beds for an East Harlem-based food bank.
