Yesterday, NYRP and The Buds went on an urban adventure, kayaking along the edges of Manhattan up the Harlem River and back down The Hudson River. The Buds would like to extend a special thanks to Green Apple Cleaners and The Long Island City Community Boathouse for generously sponsoring their exploration of New York City’s beautiful waterfronts. Beginning at NYRP’s Swindler Cove Park, this 9-mile trek from the Cove to the 79th Street Boat Basin, provided the group with wondrous views of the Inwood wilderness and the majestic cliffs of Marble Hill. Wild herons and egrets provided a glimpse into the Hudson Rivers’ natural wildlife. The group also gazed at the George Washington Bridge as they floated past the iconic Little Red Lighthouse in Fort Washington Park, the location of this Saturday’s Little Red Lighthouse Festival.
